It\u2019s the kind of food that brings people together \u2013 a little rustic, utterly comforting and unmistakably Italian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be part of the new chapter of Italian excellence in Britain \u2013 with a proper Pinsa twist. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/dimarco\/uk\">Find out how by filling our form.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For 4 people<br>Tops 4 x Pinsa bases<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the tomato sauce:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>4 x tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 x medium-sized onion, finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 x celery stick, finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 x carrot, finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 x tins chopped tomatoes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt, to taste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a handful of basil leaves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the meatballs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>300 gr minced beef<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>300 gr minced pork<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>70 gr bread, soaked in lukewarm water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 garlic cloves, diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A handful of parsley, finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 x egg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>salt and pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>flour, for dusting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vegetable oil, for deep-frying<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full nodisplaymobile\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"518\" height=\"648\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dimarco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Ricette-gennaro-polpette-singola.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dimarco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Ricette-gennaro-polpette-singola.jpg 518w, https:\/\/www.dimarco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Ricette-gennaro-polpette-singola-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.dimarco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Ricette-gennaro-polpette-singola-10x12.jpg 10w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 518px) 100vw, 518px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Make the sauce<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Heat the olive oil in a large pan over a medium heat. Add the onion, celery and carrot and cook gently for 5\u20136 minutes until softened. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, two tins of water and a generous pinch of salt. Add the basil, partially cover with a lid, and simmer gently for around 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prepare the meatballs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Squeeze out the excess water from the soaked bread and tear it into small pieces. In a large bowl, combine the bread with the minced beef and pork, garlic, parsley, egg, grated pecorino and seasoning. Mix well with your hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shape into small balls (about the size of a walnut) and roll them lightly in flour. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan and fry the meatballs in batches for 4\u20135 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove and drain on kitchen paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Combine and bake<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Add the meatballs to the tomato sauce and cook for a further 15 minutes to allow the flavours blend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, preheat the oven and bake the Di Marco Pinsa bases as directed on the packet (about 5 minutes at 220\u00b0C \/ fan 200\u00b0C \/ gas 7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Assemble<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Top each Pinsa with a generous spoonful of meatballs and sauce. Sprinkle with extra pecorino and garnish with a few fresh basil leaves if you like \u2013 and serve hot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is just the beginning of our journey together.
