It food waste Unfortunately, it is a phenomenon that involves the entire food production and consumption chain on a global level and has important consequences on both an environmental and social level.
As food producers, this issue is very close to our hearts, especially in recent years where our country has been hit hard by the Covid 19 pandemic and the news about the growth of poverty in Italy is worrying. We have therefore chosen to join the recovery project of Food Bank by donating 100 pallets of Pinsa Romana.

The production process of the Original Pinsa Romana in our company is characterised bycraftsmanship, as we often like to tell those who ask us the secret of our pre-cooked bases.
Respect for the long leavening times and a strictly hand-made rolling out by the master pinsaioli are fundamental factors for the quality of our pinsa. Numerous tests are carried out in the various production phases. quality controls, to ensure that the final product, intended for the catering world, always meets the specifications of goodness, lightness and digestibility of the Roman Pinsa.
In addition to these characteristics, there are also those relating to size and to the recognizable elongated shape of the Pinsa Romana which, due to the artisanal process, can sometimes present some physiological defects.
An optical reader checks, one by one, the thousands of Pinse produced in our laboratories, discarding those that do not meet service standards. These pinse cannot be packaged and marketed even though they are excellent products, made with love, with the only defect of being "out of shape".
In order to avoid a disposal that would contribute to increasing the enormous waste of food that characterizes our era, we have decided to do a donation to the Food Bank network: so we hope to bring to the canteens of charities an excellent Pinsa Romana, ready to be seasoned as a base for pizza or focaccia, or to be consumed as bread, to accompany meals.
“Disposing of delicious Pinsas just because they were out of shape did not seem ethical to us, nor consistent with the passion and love that my family and all those who work with us put into the entire supply chain. We therefore decided to donate to Banco Alimentare a hundred pallets of frozen Pinsas, ready to be seasoned and heated. This is about 84 thousand Pinse not marketable in traditional channels because optical detectors have rejected them even though they were fresh and fragrant: the idea of not wasting great food and sharing it with the neediest people has a great impact on us priceless value”, commented Alberto Di Marco, commercial director of the family business.
